1.  Does insurance cover platelet rich plasma injections in Annapolis?


  • No, unfortunately insurance companies are not covering this type of therapy


2. What are the side effects?


  • Usually there are no side effects but as with any elective procedure there are risks. The most common experience after the procedure is increased pain for 48 hours that usually responds to icing.


3. Can I use someone else's stem cells or platelets?


  • No, platelets and stem cells are autologous and are specific for each person's own body. Some stem c  ells  are purified and are not autologous. These type of stem cells can be used on different people


4. How long does the procedure take?


  • Depending on the procedure the time to complete the procedure can take from 30 minutes to 90 minutes.


We ask patients to have a driver present for all procedures  so that they may get home safely. Although there are usually side effects from the procedure an anesthetic is injected to minimize discomfort during the procedure. This could result in temporary numbness.
